Profile - Adam Whitney

 
Flanker - born 1984 (13th Sept. Bridgend) Joined for 2008/09 from Welsh Premiership side Cardiff. The 23 year old openside flanker made his debut for Cardiff in August 2007 and, with 21 starts, helped the Welsh club to 2nd place in the Welsh Premiership that season. Adam scoring four tries in his 30 appearances.


Educated at Brynteg Comprehensive and UWIC (Captained Brynteg School to the  Welsh Schools Cup), Adam represented Wales at Under 16, 18 (Captain) and 19 levels (alongside current Moseley scrum half Jimmy Ireland) as well as representing Samurai 7s and Welsh Academics (alongside current Moseley prop Nathan Williams).
He burst into the Welsh Premiership when he joined Bridgend in 2005 (from The Ospreys Academy) scooping ‘player of the month’ for the league in November.
By the end of the season he had sufficiently impressed to be nominated for the 2005/06 Premiership's Best Newcomer. (He was beaten to the award by lock Alun-Wynn Jones who went on to become a regular international just a season later). The following season he captained ‘The Ravens’ before moving from his home town club to Cardiff.
Moseley Head Coach Ian Smith said “the signing of Adam gives the squad another genuine no. 7 with pace and power and provides more options in the back row”.
