COMMUNITY PROGRAMME

Moseley’s Community Programme coaches 10,000 youngsters each year. Young professionals at the club combine training as full time rugby players with their work within the Community Department. These players are regular 1st XV members and the work they undertake is helping to revitalise inner city Birmingham.

"By delivering a high quality product in the most needy areas of Birmingham we help to keep youngsters motivated and safe through a sport which traditionally has not been available to them", said Dan Protherough, the club’s Community Development Manager. "Rugby is an ideal medium to channel youthful aggression and learn discipline and respect for team mates and the opposition.”

The partnership with and support of Birmingham City Council has enhanced the club’s coaching options and helped to provide an easily accessible Rugby Centre of Excellence in the heart of the City.

Funding

The community programme is made possible with the aid of sponsorship and Sportsmatch, the government’s business incentive scheme for sport sponsorship.

The club continues to seek further companies or individuals who wish to sponsor programmes. Sponsorship can be doubled through Sportsmatch giving programmes longevity and added exposure.
