held during that week. Further details to follow.
Community Day – Saturday 1st November
Adults introduction to touch rugby – bring your children also!
We are running a ‘community day’ on Saturday 1st November, prior to the first
team game against Esher.
Amongst the activities on offer on that day will be the opportunity for adults
to come along and join in with playing touch rugby. Groups of friends, workmates
or individuals can attend, be placed into teams and participate in a ‘round
robin’ competition, on the rubber crumb pitch. Afterwards stay on and watch the
first team game, enjoying a pint and a bite to eat from the clubhouse.
This follows on from our successful summer touch league, the players from which
will also be invited to join in. Touch rugby is a game where both complete
novices and experienced rugby players, male and female, can join together and
have an enjoyable time playing a game that is easy to learn. There is no
contact, no scrums, lineouts, rucking or mauling. Just a running and passing
game on small pitches, with no more than seven players in each team.
We will be extending an invitation to the local community, Moseley members,
sponsors, business community, in fact to anybody who wishes to turn up and play
(as long as they pre-register).
For those with children, we will run alongside the adult touch rugby activities
for children up to 11 years, where they can participate in a wide variety of
different sports on the day. Come along as a family.
Participants are asked to attend the clubhouse by 12.30pm. Activities will
finish in time to get into the clubhouse for refreshments. Anybody interested
must pre-register via email : community@moseleyrugby.co.uk or by calling me at
the club office. - Richard Webb, Community Department

in a multi sports activity every Wednesday between 4pm and 6pm, when they can

between 4pm and 6pm each Wednesday.
These programmes are run in partnership between Moseley Rugby Club, Billesley
Extended Services and Selly Oak constituency. The programmes were initiated by
Moseley Rugby Club, when West Midlands Police provided a small amount of funding
to start the programmes last Summer. These sessions were intended for the local
community,, to give the local youth of the area the opportunity to experience
the facilities at the club and to be coached by the young professional players.
This has proved a huge success with approximately fifty children attending each
week. As well as a great opportunity for local youngsters to have a fun time,
the impact on crime and disorder has been quite significant. Inspector Paul
Minor head of Billesley Police has stated that levels of crime and disorder have
significantly dropped since we started these programmes.

summer like weather at the start of the week. However, on the Thursday and
Friday Billesley was back to its winter norm, and the children had to work even
harder each day to keep warm. A big thank you to all the coaches who ensured the
