Moseley Rugby Mini Festival Sunday 4th May 2008 What started of as a bright day quickly turned into heavy showers and wind. Luckily by the afternoon the weather picked up slightly, and over 650 children from U7 to U12, representing 10 clubs, spent a fabulous day together, filled with good rugby, excitement and fun. The results for each age group were as follows:
It was extremely difficult to nominate the club for the Fair Play award – any one of 4 or 5 clubs could have won it – but in the end it went to Evesham who were consistently recognised as Fair Players across the age groups. This year we were lucky to have a virtually injury free day. We would like to extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to the boys from Worcester who unfortunately got injured and had to be taken to hospital, we hope that all the boys concerned are back on their feet soon. As Festival organiser, I would like to extend my thanks to all the people who gave their help and support in the planning of this year’s festival and their help on the day – the club officials and ground staff, the car park marshals led by Alan Adam, the U8’s programme sellers and pitch markers, the team managers for each age group who marshalled the pitches and kept everything on time, the referees, the U13 runners and Catherine Cadogan last years organiser who’s help was invaluable on the day. Thank you too to our guests Ray Hassall, cabinet member for Sport and Leisure, Birmingham City Council and Adam Caves Moseley first XV player, who presented all the trophies and medals. A big thanks must go to Sue Willett and her catering team who provided a constant supply of hot and cold food to hungry players and supporters alike! Finally, I would like to thank those who provided their services to the festival and then made generous contributions to its running costs – Alan from DE Photos, Rick Player from Event Paramedics and Buddy’s castles It was a great day, enjoyed by all, and an
excellent way to conclude another successful season. Best wishes for a restful summer! Louise Baggaley Festival Organiser
