Sam Doble may have only won three caps for his country, but he was one of the game's most popular characters and his tragically early death in 1977 at the age of 33 was mourned throughout English rugby. In the 1971/72 domestic season he scored an astonishing 581 points for Moseley on his way to a career total of 3,651, becoming the top scorer in senior British rugby for five seasons. In 1977 his untimely death was marked by a match with Moseley against the full British Lions side, The Rugby Writers International XV, arguably the finest team ever to play in the British Isles . Phil Bennett, the Wales and Lions rugby legend who played in the original game, has agreed to help Moseley commemorate the game just over 30 years later by selecting a number of former international players to join him in his International XV. These include Rugby World Cup Winners DORIAN WEST MBE and PAUL GRAYSON MBE, England Prop DARREN GARFORTH, Samoan International (Union & League legend) FREDDIE TUILAGI, and a number of former WALES INTERNATIONALS. Phil will also be joined by a number of his 70'S WALES & LIONS LEGENDARY TEAM-MATES. Tickets are available to buy online from www.underthepostsltd.co.uk at £10 adults and kids for £1 or directly from Moseley Rugby Club. Matchday Hospitality, to include private box for 12 people, including lunch, available at £599 plus VAT. Update
