Captain’s Comments -
The Season ahead…….
Having completed an undefeated season last year Moseley Women’s team are now
keen to get their season underway to try to emulate this level of success.
They have completed several months of pre-season training and now have less
than two weeks to go before they have their first match of the season away
at Cambridge.
With some key players having moved on, the team has been fortunate in
gaining several new players ranging from those who have played several
seasons before to those who have never picked up a rugby ball. This
obviously poses challenges and the team has to develop and integrate these
new players to build on the level that was achieved last season so that we
can compete in the higher league.
Thanks to the coaches this feat has been achieved and the girls are now
looking forward to playing matches with 15 players and contested scrums-
something that Moseley are able to offer week in week out- and the
challenges that promotion naturally poses.
As it is my first season as captain, I hope that even if we are unable to
replicate our success from last year that we play every match to the best of
our ability; play as a team that supports each others strengths and
encourages those who have never even watched a game of rugby but will step
on the pitch for the first time. The time and commitment that Derek Nutt,
Dave Critchlow, Nigel Stelling and Alex Powell give us is invaluable and
without them we wouldn’t be able to strive to compete at this higher level.

games and enjoy watching some high level women’s rugby. I would also like to

us to purchase a new and more lady-like kit! I look forward to keeping you
all updated as the season progresses.

27th September
Moseley ladies are planning a themed social evening in Moseley village on
27th Sept. This is a great way for new and potential players to come and
