Charlie Sharples – Wing -
Born 1989 (17 August, Hong Kong) England Academy Player. Dubbed ‘Champagne Charlie’ after a hat-trick of tries in the 2006
Daily Mail Schools Cup final at Twickenham, Toured Australia in August 2007 with the England U18 squad.
Selected to play in the Under 20 World Cup in Wales in Summer 2008,
having
played a part in the young
side's Six Nations grand slam success earlier in the year. Dursley rugby club was the first club Sharples played for when he joined their under-14's, alongside his schoolboy rugby at Wycliffe school in Stroud. He left Dursley after two years and dedicated himself to Gloucester, where he made his debut against London Irish in 2007/08 season, when he also started against Sale Sharks. Sharples, who is dual registered for Gloucester and Moseley, recently signed a new senior squad contract at Kingsholm where he made nine appearances and scored his first senior try at home to Bath in the Guinness Premiership in 2008/09.
