Moseley 12 Doncaster 19

Moseley secured a creditable losing bonus point against sixth-place Doncaster, but it could have been more. For the fourth time this season they conceded a last minute try to a fully professional side that denied them a win, or in this case a draw.

Moseley had tackled magnificently throughout the match to limit their well-organised opponents decent scoring chances. They allowed them just three, and unfortunately Doncaster took them all. Moseley created several good chances themselves, but they slipped away each time. That was the difference.

Moseley’s cause wasn’t helped when promising young centre Henry Trinder was injured early on, depriving Moseley the services of one of their most potent strike forces. Their 12 points all came from the reliable boot of Ollie Thomas with four penalties.

Moseley can take heart from their gritty performance, but will need to lift their game a great deal when they visit unbeaten and top-of-the-table Leeds on Sunday, and then the following Friday evening travel to fifth-placed Bedford.
