Colts Win North Mids Cup - Moseley Colts 33 Worcester Colts 17

Moseley Under 19 Colts laid their hands on the North midlands Colts Cup for the first time since 2005. In closely fought first half Moseley scored their first try in the 18th minute with a try from Flanker Tom MacGuire, following some clever play by full back Nathan Walmsley, who converted from in front of post. Moseley then started to impose themselves and just before half time another Flanker Tom Wagg got on the score sheet after some good combined all round team play involving backs and forwards, Walmsley converted. 14 – 0 at the break

At the start of the second half our Colts soon established their superiority over a spirited Worcester side and quickly scored 2 excellently taken tries, the first by Louis Stelling and then Josh Macpherson who had replaced Louis following an injury. Nathan Walmsley converted the latter to make it 26 -0. Worcester started to throw the ball around and were rewarded with good try under the post following a long period of pressure. Worcester continued to press but any hopes they had of getting back in the match were thwarted by a slick interception by our speedy wing Josh Macpherson who scored under the post, Nathan converted to make it 33 -7. With the game all but won our Colts went off the boil to let in two late tries – It was great to see a big crowd at the Kings Norton ground many in Red and Black, Thanks for the support

Captain Callum MacBurnie who had an excellent game collected the Trophy .

This concludes a fairly successful season with a squad who had the potential to get the National Colts Final but fell at the quarter final stage. Our thanks go to coaches, Tim Hardwick, Alex Powell, Team Manager, Simon Bartlett and physio, Andy Middlebrook for their sterling effort throughout the season.

I would also like to thank Leah Warner for her excellent work for the Colts over past 3 years in her fund raising capacity, her contribution has been immense. Many Thanks to James Morris Adam for being the Colts major benefactor,we are grateful for his generous donation.. We are also indebted to Sid Sadique, Farook and all at the Kababish Restaurants in Moseley for their generous support and donation.
