Rugby Lions 7-34 Moseley - “Colts Through to 4th Round of National Cup”
Following their emphatic 34-7 win at Rugby Lions the Colts progress to the 4th Round of National Cup - draw to be known on Wed 19th November. In an excellent performance by the Colts following a series of poor results, saw them outpace and out-skill their Rugby counterparts with five tries - three of which followed some spectacular inter passing and running.
Tom Macguire opened the scoring with a try under the posts converted by Alex Warner. Rugby then came back into it following Moseley’s Tom Austin being yellow carded and brought the scores level following a converted try form a driving maul.
Alex Warner kicked a penalty to make it 10-7 before Callum McBurnie went over in the corner following some good Team play. Alex made a great extra two points from the touchline to make it 17-7 at half-time.
The second half saw the Moseley backs rip apart the Rugby defence numerous times and it was surprising that only 3 tries were scored - although there were two others disallowed.
All three tries came from spectacular team play and electric running from a really pacy three-quarter line. Josh Macpherson scored two tries and Dan Rowlands the other to make it 34- 7 at the final whistle.
Apart from the mention of great back play, the pack played a major part with some excellent driving play and they absolutely out scrummaged the Rugby eight. A good team performance all round - well done guys! - Dave Ireland
