Moseley 52 Sutton Coldfield 24 - 26th December 2007

Moseley Colts Past and present played a Sutton Coldfield Development team on Boxing day at Billesley. Moseley, captained by former Moseley 1st XV player Steve Halbert featured Colts from the past 5 seasons including players who were in the National Colts Final of 3 years ago including Aaron Higgins, Paul Norris and Jon Duckers. Current Moseley scrum half and former colt Jimmy Ireland coached the side. Several Current Moseley colts were also playing.

A good festive crowd turned out to watch an entertaining game of rugby. Moseley opened the scoring in a very tight encounter early on with a strong try scoring run from winger Antonio Solomons. Sutton then produced a well driven forwards try from a line out to take the lead after 30 mins 5- 7, before Sam "Crazy Legs" Yarwood scored a spectacular try under the posts after a run from his own 22. Aaron Higgins converted to make it 12 - 7 at the break. The second half started with three tries in quick succession from Moseley with Ben Pons, Matt Tibbatts and Luke Ward going over following excellent driving play by the Red and Black Pack. Sutton looked like getting over-whelmed but fought back well and showed a lot of pride and exchanged tries Tit for tat to make it 38 -24. Adrian Courtney, Sam Yarwood and Paul Norris scored the other Moseley tries to make the final score 52-24.
2 Conversions by Aaron Higgins and 4 from Dan Pons added to the 8 tries scored by Moseley.

An entertaining match played in good festive sprit by two teams who wanted to play competitive and open rugby.
