Dudley Kingswinford 0 Moseley 60- 8th September 2007
Moseley Colts warmed up for their National Cup game next week by continuing with their impressive start to the season style on Saturday by putting sixty unanswered points on local rivals Dudley K.
Ten tries were scored and a pleasing aspect to the game is that the Colts are looking to avoid contact and look to move the ball wide with good passing skills. This was highlighted in the ‘team try’ Jack Richards scored in the first half and a number of tries followed in this manner, especially the try scored by Twinkle-Toes Tibbatts; has anyone seen him move so far in one go before?
The colt’s physicality told all over the field and especially in the tackle area, where the back row of Lavander, Pons and Twinkle-Toes excelled. The team maintained a good tempo throughout and the replacements made an impact when they came on the state their case for starting places.
This performance underlies the fact that competition for places is getting tough and selection will be interesting in the next few weeks, especially in the tackle this was area better - and that was important.
A very pleasing game by the Moseley Colts, they looked a very fit and organised side. Every player made a big contribution to the performance and we go into next week looking to improve intensity levels, scrums, kick offs.
For the next few weeks the Colts will be having conditioned training sessions against Selly Oak in readiness for the tougher games coming up. These sessions will benefit both teams and will be very worthwhile preparation.
The players need to continue with their hard work on the training ground. We enter an important period of the season with a National cup game followed by games against Leeds and Bedford. Roll on Sutton Coldfield!
