Droitwich 7 Moseley 27 - 2nd December 2007

After two successive losses in league one a further loss would be extremely hard to take, so the away fixture against Droitwich who had won both of their league one matches meant the lads would need to be at their best to avoid further disappointment.
To make matters worse we were down to a bare bones of a team due to recent injuries particularly in the forwards where a number of the lads still had minor niggles from earlier games.
Fortunately the heavy rain stopped before kick off and although the pitch was heavy and the wind was quite strong Moseley played a superb game of running rugby which left our hosts living off scraps for much off the match. This was typified by our 3rd try which went from a scrum inside Droitwich’s 22 to a ruck close to their 5 metre line then the ball going through 6 pairs of hands for a try in the corner. Brilliant!
Every player in the squad performed at or close to his best with a number of players perhaps having their best ever performance and shows the mental strength that the lads have developed over the years. It also shows that when we play with pace and are prepared to move the ball wide we are a very good team capable of beating anyone.
Well done lads. Richard Swannick
