With the sun out, the waiting was finally over, and after five weeks of training the u10s faced their first match of the 2011-12 season.
Game 1: Moseley 5 –0 Walsall
Team: Ben, Will, Max, Cameron, Stan, Ollie, Alfie, Callum and Warwick
This proved an extremely tight and physically contested game. Each side matched one another with their ability to snuff out promising attacks. The Moseley scrum proved very solid, but perhaps too often in the first half the decision was taken to attack the blindside from the scrum. Cameron came close to scoring early, but eventually Stan scored exploiting an opposition error.
In the second half Moseley nearly scored again as Max made a strong ten metre surge only to spill the ball in the grounding.
Game 2: Moseley 20 –10 Walsall
Team: Hector, Eamonn, Harvey, Joe, Ed, Sam, Adam, Thomas + an alternating extra man from team one.
As with the opening game, this was a physical encounter, and, despite the eventual scoreline, evenly matched. Ben opened the scoring. But at half time Moseley were behind. Second half though Cameron secured the equaliser and then two tries in rapid succession from Hector secured victory.
Game 3: Moseley 15 – 10 Walsall
Both squads played a half each. At half time Moseley was trailing two tries to one (scored by Cameron). Second half Hector continued his fine form from the second match and snatched two tries to complete the clean-sweep for the u10s.
Special mentioned should be made of Ollie and Adam who both played their first matches for Moseley and who both made vital contributions to the overall team performance.
