Under 12 Match Report V Walsall/Camp Hill (Walsall) Sun 09/10/2011

Moseley 22 – 0 Camp Hill

The under 12’s got their season off to a great start in a triangular morning's rugby with Walsall and Camp Hill, at Walsall.

The lads got off to a strong start with a convincing win over Camp Hill. Our forwards won their battles, dominating the scrums and most pleasingly rucking really well, producing lots of good ball for the backs.

Following early pressure, Joe Humphreys scragged the Camp Hill ball carrier and from the ensuing ruck Archie powers over for the first score. Late in the half, from a similar position Max Stanley profited from more good tackling from Joe.

Moseley dominated in the second half, as the forwards continued their strong play, and the backs moved the ball well. After some good phase play, the ball was moved out to Paddy for his first try.

His second came following a bust up the guts of the Camp Hill side from the impressive Max Baggaley. After another quick ruck, the ball was transferred through the hands for Paddy to power over.

Walsall 7 – 7 Moseley

This was a much more physical game. Our hosts carried the ball very directly and looking to assert themselves over our lads. Walsall had a very strong scrum and used this to apply pressure. They deserved the opening score when their second row powered through some ineffectual tacking to score a converted try.

Following the break, our lads came out much improved and weren’t going to be bullied. The attitude of the whole side was absolutely fantastic. Tim and Dylan in particular sorted the scrum and this gave the backs a platform to test the Walsall defence. Going into the final moments it looked as if their efforts would be in vain until following some fine play Joe Carter went blind evading the first tackler before diving for the line to beat the last defender.

Having scored the try, he knocked over the conversion to tie the score with the last kick of the game.

This was nothing more than the lads deserved. We played some fine rugby in attack and defence, and if we can build on this will surely have a fine season.
